New York Philharmonic under Alan Gilbert with Lang Lang and Frank Peter Zimmermann

When conductor Alan Gilbert has his fifth tour with New York Philharmonic beginning on the 2nd February he brings two excellent soloists with him: star pianist Lang Lang and violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann, who is the orchestra’s “Artist in Residence”. Alternating they play concerts in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Luxemburg, Paris and Amsterdam. Zimmerman performs Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major, Lang Lang presents Tchaikovsky’s first Piano Concerto and Bartók’s second Piano Concerto respectively.

Kurt Masur and Daniel Müller-Schott with the Philharmonia Orchestra in Germany

When the legendary conductor Kurt Masur goes on tour with the Philharmonia Orchestra, it is always a special occassion. Nearly 85 years old, he has not lost his musical intensity. And his schedule is still rather full. He especially advocates for the German-Austrian repertoire. From 3rd to 5th February there are three concerts in Berlin, Hannover and Mannheim with Schumann’s Cello Concerto and Bruckner’s emotional Symphony No. 7 on the programme. Daniel Müller-Schott will be the soloist on these remarkable evenings.

Cameron Carpenter - from Essen to Vienna

The flamboyant organ player Cameron Carpenter visits six German towns from 9th to 26th February. From his adopted home in Berlin it is not far to the venues of his concerts Essen, Cologne, Nürnberg, Hannover, Karlsruhe and Vienna. On 15th February  he is guest at the “Harald Schmidt Show” on Sat1. Cameron Carpenter is quickly becoming known for constantly challenging tradition perceptions of the organ with his virtuoso playing.
